JESUS CHRIST AND THE CHURCH

JESUS CHRIST AND THE CHURCH

A careful study of the New Testament Scriptures reveal that there is a divine connection and relationship between Jesus Christ and the Church.
In Matthew 16:18, Jesus promised: “…..on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it” Certain basic facts can be deduced from this passage.
1) Jesus is the founder of his church.
2) The word “church” is in the singular form thereby closing all other doors for multiplicity of churches.
3) The use of the personal pronoun “my” shows ownership. Jesus as the Owner of his church.
The Bible describes the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Church as that of a husband and his wife.
Jesus is the husband while the Church is the bride or wife. (Eph.5:22-32). Therefore, as husband, Jesus is the head of his church, not the pope nor any general overseer.
As head, Jesus Christ rules over the church through his words, “the New Testament scriptures” and deserve honor and adoration (worship) from the bride,” the church” (John 4:23-24).
In view of the above, no one can be scripturally saved by Jesus Christ today without being in the Church. In order words, salvation into Christ is salvation into the Church. This is because Christ and His church are inseparable. Jesus Christ is the head and the Church is his body (Eph.1:22; Col.1:18).
If we look at our individual human structure, we will agree that the head cannot be separated from the body without permanent damages.
The preaching of Christ will be incomplete without his church. Due to ignorance of the scriptures people emphasize “Preach Christ only to me and not Church” When Jesus Christ is preached and the prospects believe and are baptised , they are saved and added to the Church that Christ established, the Church of Christ (Acts 2:38-47; Rom.6:1-4; 16:16)
Jesus Christ is coming back again (Acts 1:11).
In the second coming of Jesus Christ, he is coming to take the Church to his father in heaven and present it as a bride without spot or wrinkle (Eph.5:27).
So, do you want to be saved and be added to the body of Christ, the Church of Christ? All you need to do is to obey and follow these steps to salvation:
Hear the word of God (Romans 10:17)
Believe the word of God (Heb.11:6)
Repent of your sins (Luke 13:3,5)
Confess faith in Christ (Rom. 10:9-10, Matt.10:32-33)
Be baptized by immersion in water (Mark 16:16)
Live a holy and faithful Christian life till the end (Titus 2:11-12; Rev.2:10).

Those who followed the above steps in the Bible days were added to the Church of Christ (Acts 2:38-47).
My dear reader, the second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is imminent.
The Bible says he will come like a thief in the night. We need to watch and be in constant readiness. Visit any Church of Christ in your locality for more and/or assistance in actualizing your salvation. God bless you.
